Bleaching
Many people are satisfied with the sparkle they get from brushing twice daily with fluoride-containing toothpaste, cleaning between their teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at the dental practice. If you decide that you would like to go beyond this to make your smile even brighter, you may make an appointment with the dentist to discuss this.
Here at Centre Dentaire Amical, we have had a lot of success with at-home bleaching. This process involves the dentist making a custom-fitted mouth guard for you that will fit your teeth precisely. Bleaching solution will be supplied by the dentist and full instruction given. Typically, this involves wearing the mouth guard (with solution applied) for at least 3-4 hours each day or, preferably, overnight. Teeth can become sensitive during the period when you are using the bleaching solution but, in most cases, this is temporary and should cease once the treatment is finished.
In-surgery bleaching is now available using Brite-Smile.
This product, in use in the U.S.A. and Canada and is the latest and most successful product of its kind. It should however not be confused with the bleaching products made available through drugstores/pharmacies who's product is less "effective".
It is a safe, comfortable and completely the effective way of whitening teeth that produces results 8-9 shades whiter. What is more, it eliminates the need for trays, gels and dedicated time each night at home.
The transformation takes place in 1 visit lasting just over 1 hour.
Just as with home bleaching, there may be some sensitivity for up to 24 hours after the treatment.
